I"m a graduate of the Texas A&M Visualization Lab who is looking for an opportunity doing lighting, shading and/or compositing for commercial work or entertainment. I graduated in 2002 and for various reasons, immediately went into flight simulation programming for about four years until I just had to get back into creative. I greatly enjoy programming within a creative context, especially if there is a lot of visual feedback, but the military angle was boring me to tears. So now I work as an interactive designer and developer who has spent the last four months getting back up to speed in Maya on my own time, and rather successfully at that. I developed a small project that would challenge me to light an interior environment and a character, and in the process I have become comfortable with mental ray, which was not available when I was working six years ago in Maya 3. I know I have a lot left to learn but I believe much of that can be best learned in the field working with experienced professionals and I'm now ready to jump in and do whatever it takes to succeed in this industry.
The reel on this site consists of my latest personal project as well as some projects I did at the Viz Lab. I've taken two of those projects, the ILM Class Project and A Good Walk Spoiled, and updated them to not only improve on my previous work but to also make use of some of the newer tools such as ambient occlusion. The deadline I set for this project was SIGGRAPH 2008, and this site is going up just under the wire. (I even have a batch render running in the background as I write this!) But no matter what the outcome, I plan to continue working in this medium. I already have two ideas in mind for shorts, and if I have to continue on my own, I will. In fact, I look forward to getting back into the festival game. I've been away for far too long and for very few good reasons.
Feel free to follow the progress of my projects on my blog.
